Saturday Morning Prana Yoga with Sandra Kynes
Prana is the Sanskrit word for universal energy, also known as “chi” and “life force” energy. In the yogic tradition, prana is believed to flow through everything, including us. Yogic practices are designed to increase the flow of prana to enhance mental clarity, emotional stability and physical vitality.
Prana Yoga is a powerful, holistic healing and self-cultivation practice that combines Hatha Yoga postures, the chanting of chakra sounds and pranayama breathing techniques. This unique form of yoga was developed by Jeff Migdow, M.D. director of Prana Yoga teacher training at New York City’s Open Center and former director of teacher training at Kripalu. The purpose of Prana Yoga is to provide a foundation of awareness and healing, and to promote a deep understanding of our true nature through yoga practice.
Prana Yoga guides you through the use of your breath, voice and yoga postures to: • Experience deep relaxation and relieve stress; • Facilitate the removal of toxins from your body; • Increase physical strength, flexibility and vitality; • Enhance personal physical, mental and emotional growth.
Sandra Kynes is a certified Prana Yoga teacher, Yoga Alliance registered yoga teacher and member of the Kripalu Yoga Teachers Association. She has been practicing yoga since 1997 and completed the nine-month Prana Yoga teacher training with Jeff Migdow in 2005. She believes in the healing power and sense of self that yoga provides, and fosters a supportive environment for exploration and growth.
In addition to Reiki, leading healing circles and women's rituals, Sandra is the author of three books: Gemstone Feng Shui, A Year of Ritual, and forthcoming in 2006 Whispers from the Woods.
